Rankin Inlet Wind Project: Community Survey & Location Information

Kivalliq Alternative Energy
March 18, 2025

Kivalliq Alternative Energy (KAE) is planning a wind energy project in Rankin Inlet. Once built, the project will provide clean, reliable, and affordable energy to the community, increasing energy independence and security while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and a dependence on imported fossil fuels. Before moving forward, we want to hear from the Rankin Inlet Community. Your feedback will help KAE make informed decisions on wind turbine locations and minimize environmental and wildlife impacts.

Survey Details

  • Purpose: This short online survey is an opportunity to share your thoughts on:

    • The proposed wind turbine locations and their potential impacts

    • How KAE can maximize benefits for the community

    • Ways to improve community engagement throughout the project

  • Prizes: Participants will have a chance to win prizes worth up to $800!

  • Survey Closes: April 4, 2025

All responses are confidential.

Project Location Information Package

To help residents provide informed feedback, KAE has prepared a Location Information Package with details on the proposed sites, including:

  • Maps of the proposed turbine locations

  • Environmental and wildlife study summaries

  • Constraints maps showing areas unsuitable for turbines

  • Cost comparisons for each location

  • Community feedback from previous engagement sessions

Next Steps

KAE will be hosting a town hall in Rankin Inlet on April 10 to share the results of the survey and answer any questions about the project. This is an opportunity to learn more, voice your concerns, and ask questions directly.

The feedback from this survey will help KAE assess community concerns and inform the final project location. Once a location is confirmed, additional technical studies and regulatory applications will take place. For more information or questions, contact us at: contact@kivalliqalternativeenergy.com

Thank you for your participation and support in shaping the future of clean energy in Rankin Inlet!
